"The Dining Room" Presented at the Aurora Theatre Festival

Published on: June 1, 2009

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre is excited to announce the production of "The Dining Room" by A. R. Gurney as part of the Aurora Theatre Festival in June. This play, directed by Billie Nye-Muller, is set in the dining room of a typical well-to-do household, the place where the family assembles daily for breakfast and dinner and for any and all special occasions. The action is comprised of a mosaic of interrelated scenes - some funny, some touching, some rueful - which, taken together, create an in-depth portrait of the middle class family. The actors play multiple parts and change roles, personalities and ages with each scene. Dovetailing swiftly and smoothly, the varied scenes coalesce, ultimately, into a theatrical experience of exceptional range, compassionate humor and abundant humanity.

The Aurora Theatre will host a one-night benefit on Thursday night, June 11th at 8:00 pm for the Town & Gown Theatre. Three of the main leaders of this theatre group were shot and killed a number of weeks ago, and the benefit will help the remaining members of the group to pull things together to continue shows at the oldest community theatre in Georgia. Love Letters will be presented on this night, and donations will be accepted.

The Aurora Theatre Festival will open on June 12th in the Gwinnett Federal Credit Union Studio at the Aurora Theatre. Two plays will be presented each weekend with each group presenting an 8:00 pm show and a 1:30 matinee the next day. Winder-Barrow Community Theatre will be presenting The Dining Room on Saturday, June 13th at 8:00 pm and on Sunday, June 14th at 1:30 pm. New London Theatre will be presenting Twelve Angry Jurors on Friday night the 12th and Saturday afternoon the 13th.

The second weekend will be June 19 - 21 with the Lionheart Theatre presenting The Love List on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. The County Seat Players will present Getting Sarah Married on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

A Festival Pass is the best value for your money. Adults are $25 and Seniors/students are $20. The Festival Pass will allow you to attend as many performances as you like for one low price. Individual tickets are $15 for adults, and $12 for seniors and students. Order tickets by calling the Aurora Theatre box office at 678-226-6222.
